The Guiding Principles at the Heart of Business

This week we’ve been thinking a lot about values. Not just the words you stick on a website because you’re supposed to have them, but the ones that reflect who you are, how you work and what you stand for.

Attending the Huddersfield Health and Innovation Partnership (HHIP) Workplace Health and Wellbeing Fair this week reinforced the importance of strong, guiding values in business and life.

Working with Cheryl Devine of Cultivate Courage on her messaging and website copy has been a huge inspiration.

Her Positive Intelligence course opened our eyes to the ways we sabotage ourselves. The judge, the voices that hold us back, and the sage steps that help us move forward.

The idea of strength, courage, a strong back, a soft front, and an open heart. These ideas aren’t just about personal growth, they’re at the core of business too.

The Values that Guide Our Work

Trust is everything. From writing a press release, refining website copy, or guiding someone through their messaging, it’s important people can trust us with their stories. That’s a privilege we don’t take lightly.

With a background in journalism and police public relations, we understand the weight of words and the responsibility that comes with them.

T – Transparency

Open, honest communication in every piece of work. No hidden agendas, no fluff. The best stories come from a place of clarity and honesty.

R – Relationships

Building strong, long term relationships with clients, collaborators, and audiences. Good work happens when trust and relationships come first.

U – Understanding

Truly getting to the heart of clients’ messages. Listening, learning, and writing words that reflect their story and purpose.

S – Strategy

Words used with intention make a difference. Our job isn’t just about writing but about finding the essence of a message and making sure it lands with clarity, purpose and power.

T – Tenacity

Standing by our values and helping others find their voice. From guiding a client through a tricky messaging challenge or championing a brand’s bold stance, we bring determination and care to every project.

In addition to the values that guide our work, there are two core principles that shape everything we do.

Enable

We enable people to find their voice, feel confident in what they’re saying, and show up as their best selves in their business.

Through public relations, copywriting or strategic messaging, we help turn ideas into reality.

Courage

Thank you, Cheryl, for pointing out that bravery isn’t about fearlessness. It’s about taking action despite the fear.

Writing, branding, and PR require courage. Whether it means owning your story, making bold statements, helping a brand find its voice, a founder stepping into the spotlight, or a business taking a stand on important issues, we believe in embracing the discomfort.

The strongest messages come from a place of courage.

Values aren’t just words on a page. They shape how you work, who you work with, and the impact they create.

And just like any good story, they’ll evolve as you do.
