Full circle moment: I spend my days helping others promote themselves and I’m still learning to do it myself. The irony, right?
Yesterday, I delivered a workshop on imposter syndrome and personal PR at an AD:VENTURE peer-to-peer networking session at Silvertini House, Walton, Wakefield, alongside Kate Hemingway Media.
The session explored how to step into your confidence, own your story, and present yourself authentically, whether you’re a business owner, team leader, or solo entrepreneur.
This topic resonates with so many professionals. From startups to established business owners, because imposter syndrome doesn’t discriminate, and it often shows up just as you’re ready to take your next big step.
Participants left the session with practical tools and a sense of empowerment.
Key takeaways included:
Confidence and Presence
How to show up authentically, without feeling ‘salesy’.
Imposter Syndrome Strategies
Recognising it, normalising it, and taking action anyway.
Personal PR and Business Owners
Communicating your value clearly, consistently, and with credibility.
Storytelling
Learning to tell your story in a way that feels natural, not forced.
Goal Setting and Next Steps
Practical, achievable actions to build momentum and confidence immediately.
This session also encouraged participants to reflect on the stories they tell themselves, and how those stories can either hold them back or help them move forward.
Many business owners and professionals struggle silently with self-doubt.
Workshops like this are about:
Building Connection
Creating a safe space to share and normalise vulnerability.
Empowering Action
Helping people take tangible steps to move forward confidently.
Long Term Impact
Teaching skills that last beyond the room. In conversations, networking, public speaking and daily business life.
