Peace in the Pause

I’m dipping my toes in the sea and floating on a boat this week.

Norfolk Broads. Wide skies. Still water. No notifications. Just space.

And I’ve realised space is where I think best. It’s where things untangle. It’s where I remember who I am outside the noise.

Because lately, that noise has felt loud. Especially on social media.

And honestly? I’ve been feeling the ick.

The game I don’t want to play

I’m still new to running my own business. I love it. The freedom, the creativity, the people I get to work with. But I’m also learning there’s a bit of a playground side to it.

A popular crowd. A bit of “who’s in, who’s out.”

A pressure to be seen.

To play the game.

To look busy. Show up. Smile bright. Post loud.

And it’s not for me.

It’s not that I hate social media

I don’t. It’s part of what I do. It works. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when it’s real.

But I also think there’s a cost when we treat it like a stage. When we’re constantly trying to keep up.

Post. Share. React. Perform.

Somewhere along the way, it becomes less about connection and more about keeping score.

And that’s not why I do what I do.

The truth is

I love words.

I love helping people find their voice and tell their stories.

But I also love silence. And privacy. And feeling like myself.

Sometimes, I don’t want to be visible. Sometimes, I just want to be.

And I think that’s allowed.

There’s a myth that if you don’t show up online, people will forget you. That your business will disappear.

But I don’t buy that. Not really.

Because real relationships last longer than reels.

So this is me

Not switching off. Just choosing peace.

Not disappearing. Just pressing pause.

I’ll still show up in ways that feel true.

Sometimes with words. Sometimes with presence.

Sometimes not at all.
